Seizing the Opportunity
There's no doubt that we are facing difficult times these days with the coronavirus spreading and impacting both the health and financial well being of people all over the world. There are ample reasons to be fearful and experience anxiety during this crisis.
What if you chose not to worry, and instead lean into this as an opportunity?
Matthew 6:27 says, "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?" I must admit I've always found this text a bit funny. I mean, if worrying could make us taller, we'd all be 15 feet tall by now. Yet, that's what most of us do, especially in difficult times like these.
Worrying is a choice.
You can get all stressed out about this situation, or you can take a different perspective on it and turn it into something beautiful. The Church has just been given an excellent opportunity. It can be that "city on a hill" that shines bright for all to see, run to, and find hope and help during this crisis. We've all heard a lot of bad news in the past few weeks.
What I'm praying and hoping for is more stories like these:
Gateway NRH Campus "Let's be a Buddy to our NRH neighbors" Program.
Southlake DPS introduces “Howdy Neighbor” to help neighbors look out for each other.
Generous customer leaves $2,500 tip for business being forces to close down due to coronavirus.
