Why investing is a great topic to broaden your ministry's reach

An all too familiar problem with stewardship ministry is the stigma that the only people who engage in it are those in difficult or desperate financial situations. While teaching the basics of money management  is a crucial and integral part of stewardship ministry, there is much more to offer.

Stewardship ministry should not only appeal to those needing help in basic areas, but also the middle-of-the-road and even the wealthy members of a church congregation . So how do we pull in those crowds with a less pressing desire or need when it comes to biblical stewardship?

Teaching on popular topics, like investing, is a great way to invite a wide demographic into stewardship ministry.

The stock market has been a focal point in the last few months as it has taken a drastic turn, and many have speculated on what to do. As the church, we should be offering biblical truth and wisdom.

When the market takes a turn as it has, it can cause people to make impulsive decisions. These decisions are often rooted in worldly desires and greed. The motivation of the heart is an important factor to address, just as much as practical advice on investing. If we can draw in people by addressing a problem or topic that they are interested in, we can open the door to true biblical stewardship and start radically changing our church from the inside out.
